"Managed Behavioral Healthcare Quality and Access Survey Report"
Prepared for AMBHA by Foster Higgins, 1994. The report presents the methodology and results of quality and access activities taking place with AMBHA member companies. The survey covered 48.1 million enrollees. The report documents that 5.3% of those persons covered by mental illness and chemical dependency programs received treatment in 1993 and that 82% of surveyed patients rated their access to care as satisfactory to excellent. More than 90% of surveyed patients rated their satisfaction with their provider as satisfactory to excellent.

An April 22, 1994 analysis of the Foster Higgins study, prepared by AMBHA's Quality and Access Standards Subcommittee. The report summarizes the Foster Higgins study, then further documents that AMBHA member company's very actively coordinate overall medical care by communicating with and educating primary care providers who deliver general medical care. Further, 93% of AMBHA member companies conduct outcomes management research studies.
